Sunday Times Names Nonsuch Best in the Southeast

Nonsuch High School for Girls has been named State Secondary School of the Year in the Southeast 2026 by The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide, alongside being ranked an outstanding 13th nationally among more than 400 leading state secondary and grammar schools across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Now in its 33rd year, the Parent Power Guide is widely regarded as the most authoritative and trusted national benchmark of school performance. This prestigious recognition reflects Nonsuch’s exceptional academic outcomes, sustained improvement and the strength of its whole-school community.

The award follows an outstanding summer of A-level results, with:

  • 64% at A*–A

These results are the product of years of highly skilled teaching, expert pastoral support and the determination and aspiration of Nonsuch students.

“I am incredibly proud that Nonsuch has been named State Secondary School of the Year in the Southeast 2026. This is award is recognition for the hard work of not only our students but our staff and families and is validation of our vibrant and supportive school community.”

Ms Alexis Williamson (Headteacher - Nonsuch High School for Girls)

Alongside its academic excellence, Nonsuch has placed a strong strategic focus on widening access and supporting students who face economic disadvantage, including through a values-led admissions policy that prioritises fairness and opportunity.

Through targeted outreach, student bursaries, pastoral interventions and partnership work across the Girls’ Learning Trust, the school is committed to ensuring that background and circumstance never limit opportunity. This work continues to deepen as part of the Trust’s collective mission to transform girls’ lives through education.

“I am absolutely delighted for everyone at Nonsuch. This is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and talent of our students and the care, expertise and support from staff, governors and families over many years. Everyone at the Girls’ Learning Trust is hugely proud to stand alongside you in celebrating this achievement.”
